A number of companies sell kit cars based on the Beta. Since many cars are scrapped solely due to rust, the mechanical parts can be removed and fitted to replacement bodies, leaving you with a good-looking and fairly powerful car. Many are replicas of more expensive Italian cars such as the Ferrari Dino and Lancia Stratos.

Build process:
Deon Cars supply a chassis, with suspension and rack fitted and aligned. To this fits the engine/gbox of a Lancia Beta, with most mechanical ancilliaries. Deon supply all the other parts to complete the chassis.
The rolling chassis is then returned by the builder to the Factory, where the build is checked, rectified as needed, and the painted bodyshell fitted.
Either the builder then completes the build, or Deon will do it.
Comments:
This all sounds breathtakingly simple. In fact, the more sourcing and reconditioning of parts you do yourself, the more complex and time-consuming the whole thing becomes. Whether any money can be saved, I'm not so sure.
The end result though is a stunning, very driveable car that is a close replica of the real thing. Spot the differences - single wiper... (Jonathon Hopper - [email protected])
